Buyer Beware

I just received this product and I'm giving very serious consideration to returning it. I am currently a subscriber to D&D Insider which gives me full access to all the Dungeon magazine adventures, but I purchased this anyway because I thought it would be nice to have a paper copy as well (for those times when I don't have or want to use my laptop). Besides, this product contained "a full year" of information and I'd rather not download and print all that information. $20 seems to be a small price in comparison to the time and effort to download and print everything.
I guess I should've noticed the page count - 160 pages. (That's less than 1/2 a page of information per day of the year).
The problem is this, the excerpt from the top leads you to believe that there is a "full years" worth of adventures in this product, which is not even remotely true. There are 5. You read correctly, 5 adventures that the people at Wizards declared to be the "best of the year". While I might agree that this will provide me with many hours of play, I think the statement of "hundreds of hours of play" to be a shocking exaggeration.
So, while the price per adventure is very appealing ($4 per adventure when they're selling the other Fantastic Locales and Adventure modules for double that price or more). I'm fairly confident that I would've rather downloaded and printed these 5. Considering this isn't the same content that I've come to expect from the professionals at Wizards, Dungeon magazine still uses freelance writers, the paper and ink I will use to do so would be less than $20.

Great for New DMs or Non-Subscribers

For a new DM, I find this collection quite fulfilling. I agree with most people and think the page count for what you pay is a bit slim. Overall though, the content inside is through-and-through entertaining/informative/ and to say the least, fun to run.
Since I play casually and do not over indulge in all the lore and back stories in the D&D world, I find it fascinating that this supplement seems to try and immerse me in a grand adventure.

Cool ideas, easily adaptable

Good stuff in here--both this and the Dragon annual are not "must-haves" by any means, but the quality of the articles is very high, and the ideas can be easily adapted with a little elbow-grease to fit into any campaign arc. If you don't use the Dungeon magazine or Dragon magazine archives on the Wizards website, then this is a good taste of some of the cream of the crop of those articles. My one wish is that there was a bit more variety--there are a couple heroic tier, a couple paragon tier and, I believe (my copy is not in my hands) one epic tier. So, four stars instead of five.
