good in information, bad in binding and typos

The information in this book is well organized and easy to understand, with many diagrams. Unfortunately, after three weeks of use, the binding started coming undone, pages falling out, entire sections of the book are sticking out. The index was bound wrong, such as when it goes from S to the end of T then Z then back to the rest of S. There are many typos and incorrect information based on these typos, such as numbers being off or words misspelled.

Poor Editing

This book has a lot of errors in it: typos, incorrect page numbering in index, stating chapter numbers in text when no such chapter numbers exist. Very poor! When I reported it to the publishing company rep she gave me the author's phone number. Ha! That should be her job to get the corrections made.

Missing pages

I bought the book and didn't realize it had missing pages until I got to class and my teacher started saying pictures and text were on certain pages, but the pages were missing. It had several times where about five pages were torn out.

Just what I expected, read the box and do your research

To all the people that have been saying they are getting ripped off because they thought it was the entire set of the miniatures, you clearly have never played or heard of a trading card game, collectible card game, or collectible miniature trading game. The concept is to randomly pack each box with a set of figures. That's it. One rare, 1 uncommon, and 3 commons. That is what you get from these.

Are there really 40 Miniatures in the box?

I've not bought this set yet, but the way the description is worded: "The Fleet Command release will contain 40 authentically detailed miniatures that war gamers" Leads me to believe you get 40 miniatures in the box, Is that not so? I write here because I have purchased some of the smaller sets and want to know.

Everything is great BUT....

one of the ships that was in the box HMS Victorious had the bridge broken off, I can still play the game, but I am stuck focusing on that broken piece when its on the game board. If not for that I would leave 5 stars.

I have a degree in American Indian Studies and have read every book on the history and culture of the Native American Indians of Wisconsin and/or the Western Great Lakes, and this by far is the best researched of the lot. Boatman begins with an overview (which he says was actually a chapter in Donald Fixico's anthology). He then devotes a chapter to each tribe that is presently in Wisconsin and that had been in Wisconsin at the time of European arrival. I can't imagine why this book is out-of-print, so grab a used copy while you can.

Awesome book - strong characters, strong plot

This is a re-issue of the first Forgotten Realms trilogy written. It's a bit surprising they didn't keep this series in print longer. Honestly, this is one of the best FR books I've read.

The book opens with a fair where we meet the main characters; Robyn, Tristan, Daryth, and the moorhound, Canthus. As we get to know these characters (they are very deep - not exactly your infallible hero types) Kazgoroth makes his move to try to take over the Moonshae Isles.

Along the way, our heroes are pulled into the struggle. The action increases and a few more characters are introduced, which are each also interesting in their own way. I love how Niles makes his characters come to life - even the minor ones.

This is an action-packed read with deep characters - good and evil. This is a book that sets the standard for others in the FR realm - even among other fantasy novels period.

This is an awesome book - highly recommended.

Good start to a Mediocre series

I liked this book, but the further I read into the series, the more it felt like trudging through a swamp. Not comparable to Tolkien, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. The scenes were vivid, the creatures were frightening, the magicians were moderetely powerful, but the characters... I just started to not care about them. I would heartily recommend The Crystal Shard by R. A. Salvatore instead.

The first decent book set in the Forgotten Realms RPG campaign setting ...

I read this series when it first came out in 1987, and several things impressed me about it at the time:

1) The author is a serious fan of roleplaying games, and has first hand experience in game design ... and it shows through clearly in his writings, both then and now.

2) This was one of the first books set in a 'pre-fab' role playing world (in this case, "The Forgotten Realms" of the Advanced Dungeons & Dragons RPG), in which there were already extensive supplements available showing the lay of the land, the peoples, the creatures, the spells, etc. According, without having to re-develop all that from scratch, the author was able to leap directly into his story.

3) At the time, this was one of the few RPG-themed books out that dealt with Druidical themes - which was always a favorite subject of mine whenever I roleplayed.

In any case, it's a solid fantasy series, and I'm glad to see it come back into print. Despite being the first of many many forgotten realms novels that came out later, it's still among the best of the "RPG" sub-genre of Fantasy.

It's the 3.5 Monster Manual but better. Cover looks fantastic and is of the highest quality. My only issue with the book is that it's so pretty I don't want to take it with me to gaming sessions for fear of it getting ruined.

Premum Dungeons and Dragons 3.5 Monster Manual (w/ Errata) Review

The quality of the book is superb, and it does include a lot of the errata that is advertised. As other buyers have pointed out, however, it does not include *all* of the errata that is promised. In addition, I have noticed a few typos that could have been corrected before Wizards of the Coast sent the manuscripts to print. All in all, however, I am extremely pleased with my purchase and I fully intend to purchase another copy or two for my players to paw through while I keep my "DM" set carefully preserved.

The best Monster Manual available.

"Premium Dungeons and Dragons Monster Manual" by Various

ISBN = 978-0-7869-6144-0 320 pages

This is often called "Core Rulebook 3 v.3.5". Within its pages are the closest thing to perfection that the 3.5 rulebooks have ever had. In this Premium edition, all errata has been removed, if possible, and entries have been slightly altered to make rulings clearer.

There are seven major chapters in this volume:
1) Monsters A to Z
2) Animals
3) Vermin
4) Improving Monsters
5) Making Monsters
6) Monster Skills and Feats
7) Glossary

I'm not going to bore you with long descriptions of the chapters. But I will say that the Premium volume, with its semi-metallic cover, really stands out in my bookcases. The art is great, as usual for WotC, and is rarely out of place. The basics of what might be called "the ultimate D&D" are all included. In the back of the book are two pages of Monsters sorted by Challenge Rating. There is a really good Table of Contents, making it vary easy to find the creature you want.

Folks, if you play =any= 3.5 or D20 game, you should have a copy of this book. The Monster Manual contains the stats for all of the basic monsters - from the Aboleth to Zombies. Don't forget that things like cats and dogs are considered 'animals' and not monsters, and things like ants are considered 'vermin'. If you're a GM, you gotta love the monster creating chapters. Highly recommended.

Great Overall Fantasy Book

Great read. I am an oldschool Everquest player and this book brought me back to the days of getting lost in neriak! Nothing insanely ground breaking story but enjoyable none the less. The other aspect i really enjoy about the book is there is really just one main character. If you enjoy traditional dungeons and dragons fantasy with more linear story lines focused on a main character then i would definitely consider reading this

A perfect sequel to Homeland, this book actually is better than the first. Drizzt makes his way through the Underdark and brings us along for the ride. I'm addicted to this series!

I liked the story, but had some in did not seem to quite fit with the Crystal Shard. Also though we see into Drizzit's POV it feels like there are pivotal thoughts that he does not express to explain inconsistent actions.
